Sea Turtles

Sea turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines. Turtles are animals that live in two places. They are sea turtles and tortoises. Sea turtles have seven species, they are the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), loggerhead (Caretta caretta), flatback (Natator depressus), hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata), leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea), olive ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea), and Kemp’s ridley (Lepidochelys kempi).

The sea turtle can be many colors in carapace like green turtle. The young green turtle is carnivore, but the green turtle want to become herbivore when it is adult. The green turtle found in tropical and sub-tropical waters around the world. Beside from it, the turtle eat on crabs, mollusks and jellyfish. The name of this turtle is longgerhead.

Sea turtles have reaches a shell length of 200 centimeters (6.6 ft) and can reach a weight of over 900 kilograms (2,000 lb). While, the tortoises have a shell length of 5 centimeters and can be have length more than 5 centimeters. The neck turtles can withdraw their necks into their shells when something approaches them.

Turtles can be pet animals, they are tortoises and freshwater turtles. Among the most popular are Russian tortoises, spur-thighed tortoises, and red-eared sliders. In Indonesia, some people preserve red-eared. Many people sell the red-eared sliders by an expensive price. From begin small turtles, medium turtle, and the biggest turtles.

Sea turtles have a great price, but in Indonesia sea turtles are protect by nation and regulated in the law.
